Blasphemy? Or tradition blended with a hint of sweet rebellion?
Tequila is, in fact, a type of Mezcal that comes from just one region, using blue weber agave. Mezcal spans 9 regions and can include up to 30 varieties of agave. The flavor possibilities are as varied as great cognacs or scotch representing the exotic climes of Mexico.
We believe mezcal is one of the greatest spirits on the planet, and in the tradition of the Zacatecas original, where the piñas were baked in clean silver smelting ovens, very different from the smokey charcoal pits of the south.
500 Years of Friendship
In the 1500s, Mezcal was born from a mixing of cultures and ideas –distilling from the Spanish and agave wine from the indigenous people.
The resulting Agave spirit was so spectacular, it spread like wild fire, uniting distant parts of old Mexico and creating many new friends along the way: from the crisp clean taste of the northern deserts, to the smokey charcoal pits of the south, mezcal was shared to bring people together. As they say, "Mezcal for the good times and the bad as well."
