A Trusted Friend in Female Entrepreneurship
Women are the critical factor in the increased economic contribution and growth of new businesses by one and a half times men. Ashley Walsh Kvamme is one of those women, having seen a need for a Mezcal leader, the agave spirit, she, alongside her father, created Kimo Sabe Mezcal.
Kimo Sabe’s mission focuses on creating a community and knowledge around the lifestyle of Mezcal. Ashley has brought a certain value and commitment to the table as a female entrepreneur by bringing a fresh look and elegance to the traditional rustic feel that the Mezcal spirit carries.
Having grown up in the chocolate industry started by her father in Hawaii, Kvamme understands source product. With the knowledge gained from the agricultural industry and keeping in tune with harvesting sweet plants like agave, Kimo Sabe Mezcal was born. It had been a solid year of waiting and searching for the perfect place, the perfect agave, the perfect recipe before locking in the blend of flavors that Ashley and her father wanted. Distilled with advanced technology and traditional techniques Kimo Sabe Mezcal is what it is today.
Kimo Sabe Mezcal owes a large part of their success to Ashley who understands how to operate a business and maintain the art of agricultural source products from her previous endeavors as a COO for Intentional Chocolate and VP of Operations for Sobe Chocolate.
For Ashley the hardest part of her work has been to hold strong to her ideas that she knows are right for the company but may not be favored by others. As an entrepreneur there are many challenges, one of the biggest being a solid inner confidence in themselves and their vision against all odds. Without that your company will obviously not succeed.
As a female entrepreneur holding steadfast to that can be challenging as women typically would rather collaborate with the group instead of stand on their own. Ashley learned to trust herself when making hard choices, because if she didn’t who would? One thing that helped was finding a group of like-minded female entrepreneurs that she could laugh, cry and drink with. It helped alleviate some of the loneliness in making those hard decisions. Ultimately over time, making the tough choices with a sense of confidence she believes creates the core part of being a leader.
Ashley’s mission as a leader is to spread the knowledge of Mezcal spirits and create a brand where clients know they have a trusted friend.
